I hated that the show went off so suddenly, particularly with the excuse that it was being canceled due to the cost off the effects getting too high.

What effects? Sometimes you see them as a ghost image instead of a solid person, and then there is the fade away into the light. Everything else is basic camera and editing. Reading Wikipedia, I see that Hewitt made a comment which is exactly how i feel about many suddenly-canceled shows: "When you've taken people on a journey for so long, the least you can do is give them a goodbye. For a show that was about unfinished business, we didn't get to finish."
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

Completely agree. I would have liked to see one more season at least... and would have liked them to know from the start of the season that it is the final season. Like they did with Smallville this year. That way they have plenty of time to finish off the series the way they want to.

Oh I hate it when shows get canceled without much warning.  It sucks when they can't tie things up.

Well the good thing is that it is a full season... so they were able to tie up the season just fine. They just didn't know they had to tie up the entire series.

I really hate it when a show sets up something for the next season...and then the show is canceled after the final episode of the season is filmed..so they have no way to try to tie up anything.

Spaced is another completed series for me...I still haven't double checked my count.  I'll get it to.

I like the way that you broke that down.

Why do you have two copies of Babylon 5, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Friends?
I have a collection.
It can be found here.

Babylon 5 was the first really affordable TV show here. Before that I bought Star Trek: TNG and DS9 for 100-110 euros per season. When B5 came out they sold it for €40 and later for €30. It was then when I swore never to pay that much money for a TV season again.

But that's not the point. ;)

I bought B5 on a season basis when each season came out. Later the distributor went through the forums and asked for people who were willing to attend a brain-storming session for a complete box set. We had some wonderful ideas that evening (like a plastic model of the station which could be opened and would hold the discs (the station has basically the form of a cylinder).

I didn't have that much creativity but was more practical and in the end that was basically my idea, down to the images that are on each side of the box:

(on the other sides is a Starfury and an Omega Destroyer).

So how could I not buy it when it came out? ;)

I first bought the Friends superbox from UK. It was only then that I learned that the US box contained quite a number of extended episodes. So I double dipped.

And the UK Buffy box contained the 16:9 episodes from the fourth season onwards. But I read somewhere that Joss Whedon intended the 4:3 image as the target, so I bought the US 4:3 version. The irony is that I still prefer the 16:9 variant. You can sometimes see why the framing wasn't intended to be 16:9 in certain shots (like seeing Marsters's flesh-coloured slip when Spike was supposedly naked), but most of the time you don't see any difference.

In fact, I have the thirst season of Buffy three times. Because after I watched the first season and decided to buy the rest, the complete box was far cheaper than the seasons 2-7 combined.
