Complete series or complete seasons?

I call them series, ie Friends series one.
Not sure what the difference is between series and seasons?

That's why I was asking. ;)

"Series" is British English for the American English "Season" (that's why I tend to avoid the word "series" and call it "TV show" instead). In the context of this topic a "completed series" means that you have every season of that show, e.g. all 10 seasons of "Stargate SG-1", all 11 seasons of "M*A*S*H" and so on.

For example, I've got 266 seasons and (not additionally!) 33 completed series.

Just a few
Scrubs
Friends
Peep Show
Spaced
then a few anime series.

:p of course, Scrubs and the Peep Show both have current series not released on DVD yet, But I wont count those until they are released.

I'll let the stars-smiley stand regardless of the answer

The way I see it is 'series' refers to the show, and 'season' refers to the season of the show.

Example, the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer has 7 seasons.

In the UK season is generally used for a outside of the UK show and Series for a UK show.

Thats crazy. It would be so much easier if it was just the same for every english-speaking country.

But "Season" sounds wrong in the UK. I would think that part of the reason for season :P is that's how long they last! Once you have 20+ shows it's a good chunk of the year. In the UK a series is about 7-8 episodes.

Well in the case of tv series both Season and series mean the exact same thing, i think its really personal preference. I personally prefer series and would say
Im watching series 3 of scrubs, and im sure everyone would understand what I ment. I suppose its just one of those things thats different in different places.
the only one I can think of right now is bogies and boogers :/ (worst example ever) but the latter is used in the US and the other in the UK.

Anyway, back to completed series i just took a look, Ive also got Sonic Underground complete and South Park XD (can't believe I forgot those!)

As for season/series length, its true.... the Peep Show was gonna go over to America but the entire 5 series (at the time) would cover about the same amount of time as a regular American season.

Like Jam in the USA is called 'jelly'.
Or how in the USA they call lollies 'candy'.

Crazy Americans.  :P

I'm jealous snowcat of your complete sonic underground collection. I love that fast little hedgehog.

Well to clear it up... when I originally made this thread, being American, I meant owning every episode of a show no matter how many seasons/series there is.

what if, like NCIS or House or Lost, the 'season/series' are still being produced or haven't all been released yet on dvd?

Then in my mind they can not be completed series. In my mind... What I am tracking on the first page of this thread is series I have every single episode of from Pilot to Cancellation. If there is more to come how could what you have be considered complete?

Note that I mean in my line of thinking. I know you can have completed what is available. But to me that is not the same... if there is more to come then what you have is not the complete series.

In my list I differentiate between "Completed" (having all episodes of a series), "Not complete" (I don't have all episodes, either because there aren't released yet, or I stopped buying that TV show or it has lower priority in my buying) and "Still running (AFAIK)" (the series is still airing).
